Book review

By the end of 1933, 87 rocket launches and 270 motor launches were carried out in Raketenflyugplatts on the stand. The latest invention in the Company Raketenflyugplatts was the so-called manned rocket, or "pilot-rocket." According to the project it had to be huge for the time dimensions (height - 7, 62 m, the largest diameter - 1 m) and a strong rocket engine. Unusual layout scheme of the rocket: the head was placed in the combustion chamber and nozzle, to her four tubular rods suspended from the gondola, private housing, and fuel tanks are at the top of the gondola, and the pilot parachute - at the bottom. It turns strange in hindsight twist: the fuel through the tubes was fed up, and the stream of hot gases fell on the nacelle cover. And all this in order that the pilot was able to jump out through the bottom hatch when it reaches the highest lift point - from 8 to 9 km.
